SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong State University athletic department placed a school-record 107  - or 62% of all of the Pirate student-athletes - on the Peach Belt Conference's Presidential Honor Roll for 2016-17, announced today by conference officials. Student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (on a 4.00 scale) for the entire 2016-17 academic year to be honored.

The 107 student-athletes surpasses the previous record of 97, set during the 2014-15 academic year. Twelve student-athletes - softball players Tori Bates, Savanna Gladue and Jane Trzaska, women's soccer players Erin Berube, Erica Laurens, Kailey Goins, Kennedi Herrmann and Allison Litchfield, baseball player Ryan Patterson, women's golfer Molly Molyneaux, men's tennis player Luca Cerin and volleyball player Brittany Hereth - earned the honor all four years as a Pirate.

The 1,721 student-athletes honored by the PBC surpasses the old record of 1,645 set in 2015-16 and gives the Peach Belt 1,000 or more honorees for the eighth year in a row.

For the ninth straight year, the honor roll has been divided into four groups: Presidential Scholars, Bronze Scholars, Silver Scholars and Gold Scholars.
