The AlphaGraphics Armstrong Student-Athlete of the Month for February is senior softball player Alexis Mercer.

AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong athletic department are teaming up to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup three straight years and the Presidential Academic Award the last two years and success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.

A native of Rincon, Ga., Mercer hit .515 with six home runs and 17 RBI during the Pirates' first month of play in 2015.

Against Lenoir-Rhyne on February 15th, Mercer launched a three-run shot in the fourth inning -the 51st of her career - surpassing Lander's Ashley Tomlinson, who previously held the record with 50 home runs from 2000-03. She was named the PBC Player of the Week on February 17th.

Mercer is hitting .478 so far this season with eight home runs and 25 RBI. She also carries a 3.225 GPA in rehabilitation sciences and is on track to graduate in May of 2016.
