The AlphaGraphics Armstrong State Student-Athlete of the Month for November is junior women's basketball standout Brigitta Barta.
AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong athletic department are teaming up to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup four straight years and the Presidential Academic Award two of the last three years and success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.
A native of Budapest, Hungary, Barta scored her 1,000th career point on December 19th at North Georgia, becoming just the 11th player in Armstrong State women's basketball history - and the second junior - to accomplish the feat. Just a week earlier, Barta graduated magna cum laude from Armstrong State with her bachelor's degree in economics with a stellar 3.60 GPA.
The 2014 PBC Freshman of the Year, Barta is averaging 12.6 points per game this season and next week will begin pursuit of her master's degree in communication and leadership studies from Armstrong State.
Check out the video interview with Brigitta on her honor and stay tuned to armstrongpirates.com as we honor another outstanding Student-Athlete of the Month coming up for January!
