The AlphaGraphics Armstrong Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2014 is senior women's basketball player Dee Hayward.

AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong athletic department are teaming up to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup three straight years and the Presidential Academic Award the last two years and success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Hayward twice set her single-game career scoring high in December in helping the Armstrong women's basketball team win a pair of Peach Belt Conference games to start the league slate.

In the PBC opener, Hayward hit for 25 points in a close loss to the unbeaten Cougars, but then topped that effort with 28 in Armstrong's 85-78 win over North Georgia on Dec. 20th, including hitting 11-of-11 from the free throw line - only the third Armstrong women's basketball player to be perfect on free throws in a single game with a minimum of 10 attempts.

Hayward is averaging a career-high 14.7 points per game this season and the senior, who carries a 3.0 GPA in biology, is on track to graduate this May.
