SAVANNAH, Ga. - The AlphaGraphics Armstrong State Student-Athlete of the Month for Feburary is senior baseball standout JT Phillips.
AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong athletic department are teaming up to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup four straight years and the Presidential Academic Award two of the last three years and success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.
A native of Columbus, Ga., Phillips had an amazing first month of the season for the Armstrong State baseball squad. At the plate, Phillips hit .464 with six doubles and also collected a .552 on-base percentage. On the mound, Phillips was 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings pitched.
Phillips currently leads the Peach Belt Conference in strikeouts and ranks 2nd in NCAA Division II. He was named the PBC's Pitcher of the Week on February 9th. Phillips currently carries a 2.5 GPA in liberal studies and is on track to graduate this Summer from Armstrong State.
