SAVANNAH, Ga. -The AlphaGraphics Armstrong State Student-Athlete of the Month for April is sophomore women's tennis standout Lena Lutzeier.
AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong State University athletic department are teaming up to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup four straight years and the Presidential Academic Award two of the last three years and success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.
A native of Blaustein, Germany, Lutzeier went 7-0 in singles play and 10-1 in doubles play for the No. 3-ranked Pirates in April. She was named the 2016 PBC Player of the Year at the league's annual awards banquet and has won 22 straight singles matches heading into this week's NCAA regional play
As a freshman Lutzeier won the clinching singles match in Armstrong State's 5-2 win over Barry in the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championship match. She currently carries a 3.40 GPA in business economics and was named to the 2016 PBC All-Academic Women's Tennis team.
