Two Pirates Earn Southeast Region Gold Glove Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University senior shortstop Alex Frederick and senior starting pitcher Chandler Hall have each been named to the Southeast Region Gold Glove Team, announced by the ABCA on Friday.

Frederick is the shortstop on the 10-man squad for the Pirates after committing just nine errors in 304 chances for a .970 fielding percentage, while also taking part in 32 double plays. The Baltimore, Md., native also hit .277 with a team-high 20 doubles and 42 RBIs in his final season with the Pirates.

Hall, meanwhile, is one of two pitchers named to the squad in not committing an error all year on the mound in 16 appearances, including 13 starts. The Augusta, Ga., native went 9-3 with a 4.40 ERA for the Pirates in 2012.

Both players will now advance to national balloting for the 2012 ABCA National Gold Glove team, which will be announced at next weeks' NCAA DII Baseball Championships in Cary, N.C.
