SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University junior outfielder Zach Taylor has been honored by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as one of the "Louisville Slugger" National Players of the Week, announced this week by the publication.
Taylor hit .545 (12-for-22) with 19 RBIs over 5 games for the No. 20-ranked Pirates last week, pushing his nation-leading RBI total to 53 covering all divisions of college baseball. He collected 2 homers, 2 doubles, 2 triples and 24 total bases on the week and scored 11 runs.
The Statesboro, Ga., native joins RHP Chris Stratton (Mississippi State), Ben Bullard (Alabama-Birmingham), RHP Matthew Reckling (Rice), RHP Marcus Stroman (Duke) and 1B Zach Stephens (Tennessee Tech) as this week's national Players of the Week. Taylor and the No. 20-ranked Pirates return to action on Thursday, March 22, visiting Augusta State for a non-conference contest at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
