Ethan Bader Named PBC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore Ethan Bader has been named the Peach Belt Conference's baseball Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday by league officials.

Bader hurled a four-hit shutout, striking out 11 in Armstrong's 2-0 win at Flagler on Saturday, capping a three-game sweep of the Saints and moving the Pirates into first place in the PBC's East Division.  The sophomore retired the first 12 batters in order to start the game before getting out of a two-on, no-out jam in the fifth.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native only allowed two runners to reach second base the entire game.  Bader recorded his PBC-leading ninth win of the season with his first complete game and first shutout as a Pirate. He also leads the league in strikeouts and innings pitched.

Bader is the second Armstrong player to earn the league's weekly pitching award, joining Chandler Hall (March 12).

Bader and the No. 5-ranked Pirates return to action on Tuesday, April 17th, hosting Augusta State in a non-conference contest at 3:30 p.m. at Pirate Field.
