Pirates Tied For 10th After First Day Of Matlock Collegiate

LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 20-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University men's golf team sits tied for 10th place afer Monday's first day of action at the Matlock Collegiate Classic, hosted by Florida Southern College at the Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla.
The Pirates carded rounds of 292 and 298 for a 590 total on Monday to sit 14 strokes behind co-leaders Barry and Florida Tech, who are at even-par 576. Lynn, St. Edward's and host Florida Southern are all five strokes off the pace at 581 in the 15-team field.
Armstrong sophomore Travis Williamson is tied for eighth place individually after shooting rounds of 69 and 74 on Monday for a one-under-par 143 total. Senior Matt Motes is tied for 11th individually after rounds of 69 and 75 for an even-par 144 total, while freshman Taylor Gove is tied for 41st after rounds of 72 and 78 for a 150 total.
Junior Jacob Tilton is tied for 68th with a 157 total after first-day rounds of 82 and 75 while junior Tyler Erickson is in 74th place after rounds of 85 and 74 for a 159 total.
Play concludes at the Matlock Collegiate Classic with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday morning in Lakeland.
