No. 18 Pirates 12th After Second Day Of NCAA Men's Golf Regional

CONOVER, N.C. - The No. 18-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University men's golf team shot a second-round 295 on Tuesday to sit in 12th place after the second day of the 2012 NCAA DII Men's Golf South/Southeast Regional at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.
The Pirates improved two shots from Monday's first-round 295 and are tied for 12th with a two-day 16-over-par 592 total. Georgia College (580) leads the 20-team field by one stroke over Florida Tech (581) with a trio of teams four strokes behind at 584 - USC Aiken, UNC Pembroke and Barry. The top five teams advance out of the South/Southeast Regional to the 2012 NCAA DII Men's Golf National Championships in Louisville, Ky.
Senior Matt Motes led the Pirates for a second consecutive round with a one-under-par 71, tying for 10th individually with a 143 total. Junior Gus Wagoner shot a two-over-par 74 and is tied for 39th individually with a two-day 149 total, while junior Jacob Tilton shot a second consecutive 76 to sit tied for 68th with a 152 total.
Freshman Cory Griffin shot a two-over-par 74 on Tuesday and is tied for 73rd individually with a 153 total while sophomore Travis Williamson shot an 82 and is tied for 93rd individually with a 156 total.
