SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong State University junior Jake O'Bryan has been named the Peach Belt Conference's men's Golfer of the Week, announced today by league officials.
O'Bryan finished second at the 2016 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University, at Fleming Island Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla. He carded three rounds in the 60s, shooting 69-68-68 to finish with an eight-under-par 205 total and finish runner-up by just one stroke. He is only the third Armstrong State men's golfer to card three consecutive rounds in the 60s, joining Chris Wolfe (2007) and Shad Tuten (2012).
His finish helped Armstrong State capture the team title by four strokes over Carson-Newman, the Pirates' first tournament win since the fall of 2013. This is O'Bryan's first weekly honor from the PBC.
O'Bryan and the Pirates will be next in action on Monday, February 22nd, competing in the 2016 Armstrong Pirate Invitational at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.
