Pirates Sixth After First Round Of First Federal Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Armstrong State University men's golf team shot a first-round 291 to sit tied for sixth after the first day of the 2016 First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University, on Sunday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta.

The Pirates are tied with No. 4-ranked West Florida for sixth place in the 18-team field. No. 6-ranked Florida Southern (286) leads by one stroke over No. 16-ranked North Alabama (287), with top-ranked Saint Leo (288) in third. No. 3 Nova Southeastern and No. 5 Lynn (290) are tied for fourth just ahead of Armstrong State.

Junior Jake O'Bryan and sophomore Tyler Key each shot first-round one-under-par 71 scores to sit tied for ninth individually, four strokes off the lead. Freshman Rickard Wallin shot a two-over-par 74 to sit tied for 36th, while senior Howard Hickey shot a first-round 75 to sit tied for 56th. Sophomore Reid Rathburn rounded out the Pirates' scoring on the day with a 78, tying for 75th individually.
