VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Armstrong State University men's golf team fired a second-round 300 to slip two spots to eighth place after Monday's action in the 2016 First Federal Southern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The Pirates' two-round 591 total is in eighth out of the 16-team field. No. 4-ranked West Florida (573) rocketed to the top of the leaderboard and is two shots ahead of No. 6 Florida Southern (575), with No. 5 Lynn (580), top-ranked Saint Leo (581) and No. 7 Barry (583) rounding out the top five scores.
Armstrong State freshman Rickard Wallin shot a one-over-par 73 for the Pirates' best round of day two. Wallin is tied for 25th with a 147 total, as is junior Jake O'Bryan, who shot a 76 on Monday. Sophomore Tyler Key shot a 77 and is tied for 33rd with a 148 total, while senior Howard Hickey shot a 74 to sit tied for 44th with a 149 total. Sophomore Reid Rathburn rounded out the Pirates' scoring in the second round with a 77, sitting tied for 77th with a 155 total.
Play concludes at the 2016 First Federal Southern Collegiate with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday. The Pirates will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
