ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Armstrong State University men's golf team shot a final-round 306 to finish sixth at the 2016 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Sunday at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine. Senior Howard Hickey earned All-Tournament honors for the Pirates.
Armstrong State finished the three-day tournament with a 903 total. Columbus State (873) captured the title by two strokes over Flagler (875), with USC Aiken (892), Georgia Southwestern (898) and Lander (899) rounding out the top five teams.
Hickey carded a two-over-par 74 to finish the tournament tied for fifth with a one-over-par 217 total, earning All-Peach Belt Conference Tournament honors. Junior Jake O'Bryan shot a 79 on Sunday to finish the tournament in 22nd place with a 229 total, while sophomore Tyler Key finished tied for 23rd individually with a 230 total after also shooting a final-round 79.
Sophomore Jacob Tinsley finished tied for 31st individually with a 231 total after his final-round 79 and freshman Rickard Wallin shot an 84 to finish tied for 47th with a 239 total to round out the Pirates' scoring.
Armstrong State graduates just one senior - Hickey - from this team for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Hickey finishes his three-year Pirate career with a 74.7 stroke average in 29 tournaments.
