Pirates In 13th At NCAA DII National Preview Men's Golf Tournament In Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Armstrong State University men's golf team fired rounds of 298 and 295 to sit in 13th place after the first day of action in the NCAA Division II Preview Men's Golf Tournament at the Reunion Resort & Spa's Watson Course on Monday in Florida.

Lynn leads the loaded field with a first-day 560 score, one stroke ahead of Florida Southern (561), with West Florida (568), Nova Southeastern (569) and Florida Tech (572) rounding out the top five schools. The Pirates (593) are 13th in the 18-team field with one round left to play on Tuesday.

Freshman Spencer Ball carded rounds of 74 and 69 to sit tied for 19th overall with a one-under-par 143 total, leading the Pirates individually. Freshman Max Trydefeldt, in his first collegiate tournament as a Pirate, is tied for 39th after rounds of 74 and 73 for a three-over-par 147 total. Freshman Austin Mancilla is tied for 66th after two consecutive rounds of 76 for a 152 total.

Junior Jacob Tinsley is also tied for 66th after shooting rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152 total. Junior Reid Rathburn rounded out the Pirates' scoring with rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total, tying for 81st place.

Play concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for all golfers.
