PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Armstrong State University men's golf team finished 10th at the 2017 UWF Argonaut Cup after Tuesday's play at the Pensacola Golf Club in Pensacola, Fla.
The Pirates finished their rain-halted first round on Tuesday morning, shooting a 298, then followed that up with a 299 in the afternoon for a 597 total, good for 10th place in the 14-team field. Host West Florida (558) won the team title by 18 strokes over Missouri-St. Louis (576), with Montevallo (584), Limestone (586) and Spring Hill (586) rounding out the top five schools.
Junior Ryan Emery led the Pirates individually, shooting rounds of 75 and 71 to tie for 15th place with a two-over-par 146 score. Freshman Spencer Ball carded rounds of 72 and 75 to tie for 24th with a 147 total, while junior Gustav Beckvid shot rounds of 74 and 77 to finish tied for 42nd with a 151 total. Freshman Max Trydefelt shot rounds of 77 and 76 to finish tied for 52nd with a 153 total and senior Jake O'Bryan rounded out the Pirates' scoring, finishing tied for 68th with a 160 total after rounds of 82 and 78.
The Pirates will next compete at the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Championships on April 14-16 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.
