Michael Butler Named PBC Men's Golf Coach of the Year

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Armstrong State University head men's golf coach Michael Butler has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Coach of the Year for 2016-17, announced tonight at the annual awards banquet prior to this weekend's PBC Golf Championships in St. Augustine, Fla.

Butler earns the award on the eve of his team playing in its final tournament in program history. The Pirate men's golf program will disband with the upcoming consolidation of Armstrong State University with Georgia Southern University.

In his 17th and final season at Armstrong State, Butler's Pirates finished fifth at the Kiawah Island Invitational and were sixth at the Saint Leo Invitational. It is his second PBC Men's Golf Coach of the Year honor, as he also earned the honor in 2004. Butler was also named the women's golf Coach of the Year, becoming the third coach to win both honors in the same season.
