Mikk Irdoja Named PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week


SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State junior Mikk Irdoja has been named the PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced today by league officials.

Irdoja went 2-0 in singles and doubles play as the top-ranked Pirates knocked off a pair of No. 2-ranked teams last week. He notched a 6-3, 6-2 win over the top-ranked singles player in NCAA Division III, John Watts of Washington University in St. Louis, on Tuesday. 

The Talinn, Estonia, native then beat No. 11-ranked Marko Mokrzycki of Barry, 7-5, 6-2, on Saturday. Irdoja teamed with Rafael Array to beat the third-ranked doubles duo in DIII, Watts and Max Woods, 9-7 on Tuesday then knocked off No. 9-ranked Emanuel Fraitzl and Max Wimmer of Barry 8-6, on Saturday.

This is the second PBC Player of the Week honor this season for Irdoja, who was also the league's Player of the Week on March 2.

Irdoja and the Pirates are next in action on Tuesday, March 23, taking on No. 21 Drury at Bacon Park in Savannah.
