Georgi Rumenov Named PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week


SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore Georgi Rumenov has been named the Peach Belt Conference's men's tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season, announced Monday by league officials.

The newly-crowned top-ranked singles and doubles player in the nation went 2-0 in singles and doubles for the Pirates last week. Rumenov began the week with a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 15-ranked Arrigoni of Lander, then beat NAIA No. 18-ranked Nicolas Pinones of Auburn-Montgomery, 6-1, 6-0.

The Barcelona, Spain, native then teamed with Mikk Irdoja to beat the Lander duo of Jonsson and Verpeaux, 8-4, and the Auburn-Montgomery duo of Toth and Reason, 8-0, in doubles action on the week. Rumenov is a perfect 14-0 at #1 singles this season heading into Monday's action against Francis Marion.

This is the third PBC Men's Tennis weekly honor of the season for Rumenov, who was also the league's Player of the Week on February 7th and February 21st.
