SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong State University senior Luca Cerin has been named to the 2017 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Men's Tennis Team, announced this week.
The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
The native of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, carries a 3.455 GPA in business economics. Cerin has also shined on the court this season, earning a current No. 8 ranking in singles and a No. 19 ranking in doubles. This is the second straight season that Cerin has been named to the All-Academic Team and he is a three time PBC Presidential Honor Roll honoree.
Cerin and the second-seeded Pirates will open up action in the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, taking on seventh-seeded Georgia College at 1:00 p.m. at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center in Florence, S.C.
