Armstrong Softball Hosts NCAA Southeast Regional

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 8-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University softball squad has earned the right to host its first NCAA Southeast Regional with the announcement of the 2012 DII Softball Championship selections on Monday morning.
The Pirates (44-9) are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Championships in the last 12 seasons and will host one of two four-team Southeast regionals on Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6 at the Armstrong Softball Field.
The second-seeded Pirates will face seventh-seeded Flagler (34-17) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday with a pair of South Atlantic Conference foes, third-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne (46-11) and sixth-seeded Catawba (33-17), meeting at Noon on Friday.
The winner of the four-team regional meets the winner of Southeat Region #1, hosted by top-seeded North Georgia and also featuring fourth-seeded Augusta State, fifth-seeded Columbus State and eighth-seeded King (tenn.), in a super-regional on May 11-13. The winner of the best two-of-three super regional advances to the 2012 NCAA DII Softball World Series on May 16-19 as a part of the DII Spring Sports Festival in Louisville, Ky.
