GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Armstrong State University softball squad launched 10 home runs in picking up a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader sweep of host Lander University on Saturday afternoon in Greenwood, S.C. The Pirates won the first game, 9-0, and took the second game, 19-11.

The wins move the Pirates to 15-6 overall and 5-1 in the Peach Belt, while Lander falls to 10-18 overall and 2-4 in the league. Armstrong State will next step out of conference to travel to Shorter for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference matchup with the Hawks on Wednesday, March 15th.

In game one, the Pirates got a two-hit shutout from reigning PBC Pitcher of the Week Jane Trzaska and launched three home runs in picking up the 9-0 win. Trzaska gave up just a pair of singles while striking out eight to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Trzaska had a solo shot in the sixth for a little insurance, then the Pirates exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning - including three home runs, just the third time in PBC history that a team has had three home runs in one inning against a Peach Belt opponent. Collins had a solo blast, then Connor Weaver and Logan Harrell each had two-run shots in the inning.

Lander capped the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a solo home run from Reychel Webster.
