Pirates Finish 13th At CSU/Wendy's Fall Invitational


CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's golf team fired a final-round 314 on Tuesday, moving up one spot to finish 13th at the Charleston Southern University/Wendy's Fall Invitational at the Coosaw Creek Country Club.

The only DII team in the field, the Pirates leapfrogged Bethune-Cookman into 13th, finishing the tournament with a two-day 641 total. Marshall (605) won the tournament by five strokes over Alabama-Birmingham and Stetson, who each finished the tournament with 310 totals. Appalachian State (613) and Wofford (615) rounded out the top five schools in the 16-team field.

Sophomore Kristen Sammarco shot a 76 on Tuesday to finish tied for 18th individually with a two-day 153 total. Senior Victoria Bennett carded a career-best 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 50th with a two-day 161 total, while senior Kim Knox shot an 83 to finish tied for 61st with a two-day 164 total. 

Sophomore Jessica Tomberlin shot an 85 and finished tied for 67th with a 168 total, while junior Kelly Pearce rounded out the Armstrong scoring with an 80, finishing 77th with a two-day 174 total.

Armstrong will wrap up its Fall season on Oct. 24-25 at the Flagler College Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Fla.
