Pirates Tied For First At 2017 Barton Invitational On Saturday

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Armstrong State University women's golf team is tied for first place after Saturday's first day of action at the 2017 Barton College Invitational at the Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The Pirates' first-round 315 total is tied with Limestone College for first, seven strokes ahead of Anderson (SC) (322) and eight strokes ahead of both Florida Southern and UNC Pembroke, who each carded 323 scores in the 17-team field.

Junior Sophie Bargeron carded a first-round 76 to sit in third place individually for the Pirates. Junior Nikita Arjun and freshman Eva Martinez Calavia each carded first-round 78s and are tied for ninth, while senior Molly Molyneaux shot an 83 and is tied for 34th. Sophomore Bailey Buie is tied for 51st individually after an 86 on Saturday.

Play concludes on Sunday with a single round of 18 holes with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
