Armstrong Soccer Earns Top Seed In NCAA Southeast Regional

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's soccer team has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Southeast Regional, announced by the NCAA in a selection show on Monday evening.

The Pirates (15-2-3) will host one of two Southeast Regionals and will welcome in No. 4 seed North Georgia (15-2-1) and No. 5 seed Wingate (16-3) to Savannah this weekend. North Georgia and Wingate will play at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. in a first-round match at the Armstrong Soccer Field.

After a day off, the Pirates will then host the winner of the North Georgia/Wingate match on Sunday, November 13, at 1:00 p.m.

This is the second straight year that the Pirates have hosted a regional as Armstrong earns its fifth NCAA Championships berth in the seven-year history of the program. It is the first time, however, that the Pirates have been the No. 1 seed in the regional.

The other Southeast Regional will be hosted by No. 2 seed Lenoir-Rhyne (17-2). The Bears will host a Friday match between No. 3 seed Columbus State (15-4-2) and No. 6 seed Lees-McRae (13-4-3) and then face the winner on Sunday.

Tickets to the NCAA DII Southeast Women's Soccer Regional are $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and $1 for students.
