Armstrong Soccer Moves To No. 7 In NSCAA Top 25 Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's soccer squad moved up to No. 7 in the latest NSCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released Tuesday by the organization. The Pirates were the biggest movers in the poll, moving up 12 spots.
Armstrong (15-2-3) made the leap after capturing the 2011 Peach Belt Conference tournament title on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Columbus State. True to the depth of the conference, there are three Peach Belt teams ranked in this week's poll as CSU (15-4-2) entered the poll at No. 20, while North Georgia (15-2-1) appears at No. 25.
The ranking is the highest for the Pirates since Armstrong was ranked No. 3 on Oct. 26 of last season. Armstrong began the year ranked No. 8 in the 2011 NSCAA Preseason poll.
Grand Valley State (18-0-2) moved into the top spot of this week's poll, followed by California (Pa.) (18-0-2) and Bridgeport (16-0-1). Central Missouri (19-1-1) and Seattle Pacific (16-2) round out the top five schools.

Armstrong hosts one of two NCAA Southeast Regionals this weekend as No. 25 North Georgia and Wingate will face off on Friday at 1:00 p.m., with the winner meeting the Pirates on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The winner advances to the NCAA Southeast Regional final on Nov. 18.
