Lady Pirates Continue Play At OU Sooner Fall Invitational


NORMAN, Okla. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team continued action in the OU Sooner Fall Invitational on Satuday, competing in singles play.

In the A Singles bracket, Aleksandra Filipovski split a pair of matches, dropping a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 decision to North Texas' Valentina Starkova, but rebounding to notch a 6-3, 6-4 win over Bonny Davison of Tulsa.

Barbora Krtickova lost a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Oklahoma's Whitney Ritchie and Olga Kalodzitsa dropped a pair of singles matches, losing 6-3, 6-3 to Micah Hermsdorf of Abilene Christian and 6-1, 6-1 to Texas Tech's Sandra Dynka.

In the B Singles bracket, Kathleen Henry notched a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win over North Texas' Nadia Lee to advance to the semifinals, but Henry fell to Oklahoma's Whitney Wofford, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, in the semis.

Clara Perez, meanwhile, won a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Viktoriya Plyuta of Arkansas-Little Rock as well as a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over Tulsa's Isaura Enrique in the consolation part of the B Singles bracket.

Jessica Gardefjord rounded out the Lady Pirates' action on Saturday in the C Singles bracket, beating Abilene Christian's Madelyn Walker, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, after falling to ACU's Brittney Reed, 6-3, 6-1.

Play concludes in the OU Sooner Invitational with championship matches in both singles and doubles brackets on Sunday.
