No. 3 Pirates Excel At Second Day Of Clemson Winter Classic


CLEMSON, S.C. - The No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team swept six singles matches and won two of three doubles matches on the second day of the Clemson Winter Indoor Classic on Saturday in Clemson, S.C.

The Pirates faced Troy University players in all nine matches on the day. In singles, Barbora Krtickova collected a 6-1, 6-1 win over Karline Grymel at Flight 1, while Aleksandra Filipovski downed Lyubov Dorofeeva, 6-2, 6-2, at Flight 2.

Kathleen Henry beat Olfa Dhaoui, 6-1, 6-2, at Flight 3 with Olga Kalodzitsa beating Candela Munoz Giron, 6-2, 6-0, at Flight 4. Clara Perez beat Samya El Hsissen, 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 in Flight 5 and Marlen Hacke beat Rosaura Rameres Vega, 7-5, 6-0, at Flight 6.  

In doubles play, the duo of Krtickova and Filipovski downed Grymel and Dorofeeva, 8-3, at Flight 1 while Hacke and Kalodzitsa teamed to beat El Hsissen and Munoz, 8-4, at Flight 2. The Troy duo of Dhaoui and Rameres Vega beat Henry and Perez, 8-6, at Flight 3.

Play concludes at the Clemson Winter Classic on Sunday with Armstrong facing host Clemson in singles play and Charleston Southern in doubles play.
