No. 3 Pirates Open PBC Tournament With 5-0 Blanking Of Augusta State

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The top-seeded and No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team opened up action in the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tennis Championships with a 5-0 win over eighth-seeded Augusta State on Friday afternoon at the Greenwood Country Club.
The Pirates (21-0) will now face fifth-seeded Georgia College, who knocked off fourth-seeded Flagler, 5-1, in a semifinal match at Noon on Saturday. Augusta State falls to 11-10 on the season with the loss.
Armstrong swept all three doubles matches for a quick 3-0 lead heading into singles play. No. 2-ranked Barbora Krtickova and Aleksandra Filipovski downed Victoria Lindqvist and Liv Pettersson, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles, while No. 10-ranked Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa defeated Roberta Oliviera and Julie Fontaine, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles. No. 15-ranked Kathleen Henry and Clara Perez finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Marina Ferreria and Lissa Murakami at No. 3 doubles.
No. 7-ranked Filipovski claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lindqvist at No. 2 singles, then No. 23-ranked Hacke clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Oliviera at No. 4 singles.
Armstrong has won eight straight PBC Women's Tennis Tournament championships and 17 of 21 tournament titles since the first league tournament in 1992.
