Barbora Krtickova Named PBC Women's Tennis Player of the Week


SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore Barbora Krtickova has been named the Peach Belt Conference's women's tennis Player of the Week, released Monday by league officials.

Krtickova went 2-0 in singles and doubles for the No. 3-ranked Pirates as Armstrong wrapped up an undefeated regular season. She began the week by beating No. 6 (NAIA) Yi Ching Chen of No. 3 Embry-Riddle, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, on Thursday, then downed Michelle Fischer of Valdosta State, 6-1, 6-2, on Saturday.

The Nove Mesto Nad Metuji, Czech Republic, native then teamed with Aleksandra Filipovski to knock off No. 6-ranked (NAIA) Chen and Strom of EmbryRiddle, 9-8 (7-2), aand Braun and Nagel of Valdosta State, 8-2. Krtickova is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles and No. 2 in doubles for the Pirates.

This is the second weekly honor for Krtickova this season as she was also the league's Player of the Week on March 19th.

Krtickova and the Pirates will open up action at the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Friday, April 20, against an opponent to be determined.
