Filipovski, Krtickova Notch ITA Southeast Region Doubles Title

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis duo of Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova successfully defended their ITA Southeast Region doubles title on Tuesday, downing teammates Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa, 8-1, in the final at the Armstrong Tennis Complex.

The top-seeded duo of Filipovski and Krtickova advance to the ITA Small College National Championships on Oct. 11-14 in Mobile, Ala. The pair advanced to the final of the DII bracket a year ago and finished the 2012 season ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II.

This is the third straight ITA Doubles region title for Krtickova, who teamed with Alida Muller-Wehlau to not only capture the ITA DII doubles title in 2010, but the ITA "Super Bowl" doubles title as well as the consolation bracket of the ITA National Indoor Championships.

Armstrong completes the "Region Sweep" by capturing all four bracket championships in men's and women's singles and doubles for the second time in the last three seasons, accomplishing the feat in 2010.
