SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong State University junior Lena Lutzeier has been named the Peach Belt Conference's women's tennis Player of the Week for the third straight week, announced today by league officials.
Lutzeier dropped just three games all week in six matches, going 3-0 in singles and doubles for the top-ranked Pirates. The junior from Blaustein, Germany, beat No. 28 Caroline Nelhage of Tiffin, 6-0, 6-1, then picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Clayton State's Kristiin Mets, helping the Pirates win their 150th consecutive regular season Peach Belt match. She finished off with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Montevallo's Alina Munteanu.
Lutzeier won three doubles matches with Diana Stomlega, including beating the No. 22-ranked duo of Kaye and Nelhage from Tiffin. She is now 11-0 this spring in singles play and 9-1 in doubles.
This is her third straight PBC Player of the Week honor in 2017 and the eighth of her career.
The Pirates are in action this afternoon, taking on No. 5 Hawaii Pacific at 2:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Tennis Complex.
