No. 17 Pirates Pick Up Pair Of Wins On Saturday

AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 17-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball squad picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, improving to 20-0 with a 3-2 Peach Belt win over USC Aiken and a 3-0 neutral-site win over Bentley at the USCA Convocation Center.
The Pirates (20-0, 7-0 PBC) have now won 20 or more matches in four straight seasons - all four seasons that head coach Will Condon has been at the helm of Armstrong volleyball. Visiting his former school, Condon and the Pirates held off a feisty USC Aiken squad for a 16-25, 25-17, 29-27, 21-15, 15-12 win over the Pacers in their first match of the day.
Junior Leia Pittman and sophomore Jessica Santaniello each recorded 12 kills to lead Armstrong past the Pacers. Junior Ashley Seal dished out 39 assists and senior Casey Howett notched 15 digs and Pittman and junior Brittany Wolf each collected five blocks.
USC Aiken (8-12, 3-4 PBC) was led by Shannon Byers' match-high 16 kills, Ashley Farwell's 28 assists and Samantha Lukralle's 25 digs.
In the Pirates' second match of the day, Armstrong bested Bentley (Mass.), 25-18, 25-11, 25-7. The Pirates hit a season-high .443 win the victory with 43 kills and just eight errors in 79 attempts.
Junior Amanda Jones collected nine kills to lead the Pirates, while Pittman hit .667 with eight kills and no errors in 12 attacks, while also collecting eight blocks. Santaniello also had eight kills and a team-high 11 digs along with five blocks. Seal notched 30 assists as well.
Bentley (8-9) was led by Kelsey Buckner's five kills, Alex Tator's 12 assists and Jennifer Segar's seven digs.
The Pirates return to action on Monday, October 10, visiting Florida Southern for a 5:00 p.m. matchup against the Mocs in Lakeland, Fla.
